LAST MAN STANDSCGI MUSIC VIDEO
LEARN MOREThis CGI music video is situated in the postapocalyptic world. The whole video was filmed on the green screen background. All the locations were added by CGI.
1. SCRIPT
We started by writing the script of this video. Determine the basic message to deliver by the video. So the begining should show beautiful scene of blooms and blue sky immediately broken by the rough reality.
Then the video shows the solitude of the last man on earth struggling with the world around him. So he decides to burn it all down by nuclear explosion and move to outer space to wait till the whole world resets. In the very end he is able to return into the beautiful nature and start over.
2. LOCATIONS
Because the locations actually does not exists, we must create them. It means designing the space, content, composition, lighting and colors.
So we drafted a simple storyboard images showing the composition, position of the artist, camera, movement and other content of each scene.
3. FILMING
We setup the camera, lights, artist position, movements and costume according each of the drafted storyboard images.
The artist must follow the script to move, react or avoid objects which acctually are not there. It required strong imagination skills by the artist. But yeah, of course we needed to re-shot some scenes few times :)
4. MERGING
After all filming was done, we started to put each scene together by merging the filmed footeage of the artist with the artificial background, matching the light and color conditions.
Then we added the third layer to the foreground. Artificial object, effects etc. which supposed to be "in front" of the artist.
5. PUTTING ALL TOGETHER
Once we had all scenes merged and finalized, we could approach them as a regular clip and we were able to start to do actual editing of the music video.
Music video edit has its own rules about edit timing based on the "flow" of the song itself, combinig wide shots with close-ups, etc.
Once the main edit was done, the final color-grading and color-correction has been applied to match all the pieces of the music video.
And finally. After three weeks of hard work the video was finished and published. See it by yourself :)
